Quality Control & Quality Assurance

Project Description

All Arabian Sugar Company B.S.C. (C) products are produced in strict accordance with the Quality Management System, including but not limited to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Plan.

Cane sugar refining is a continuous process involving a number of separate operations, using variable raw sugar input and involves a certain amount of recycling. Therefore the emphasis of the quality assurance system is on monitoring conditions at each stage of the process to ensure that the final product meets the required specification.

This monitoring is done by continuous online monitoring, analytical techniques and by frequent sampling at each stage for laboratory analysis. In this way refining conditions may be adjusted at each stage of the process to ensure that the final product specification is achieved. Analysis on final product covers the main analytical parameters, with annualised testing for other parameters.

The HACCP Plan has been devised by following the principles of Codex Alimentarius. Each step of the refining process is assessed for risks of Biological, Chemical and Physical contamination. Pre-requisite and Monitoring programs have been established from Risk Assessment, with 5 Critical Control Points identified in the process.
